What is Grammar?

Day 1

      Grammar??what is grammar?? Why we need grammar in english?? This is about grammar. In a first class,we just be acquainted. And the lecture want to know who is not really understand grammar. I cnfess that I still lack knowledge about the English. Alhamdulillah,because I get a good lecture that would help me to understand about English. Therefore, I am not likely to prepare for the opportunity given to me.

Day 2

      It is time to started learning about grammar. My teacher really squeezing my brain to remember all about grammar until I really know what is grammar. She said without English grammar will not be perfect .  this is because grammar is a part of the English language. That’s why grammar is really important in English language. If the grammar is not used in English,it will be weird. It is true what I just said,if not true. I want to apologise because I am not sure what just I say is true or not. This is because I don not fully understanding in English.

Day 3

      Three day  after that, I studied at class about pro nouns. It was a bane to me because I have long forgotten about it. But, my lecture really understand me. She  asked me a question over and over again. At the appropriate time I started to understand little by little parts of it. It is the part where I started liking English.

Day 4

      In this day, I can not tell you about my full article about English. This is because ,on the day fourth I was thinking about my village. I can not  focus about my studied because of that. But, I know my lecture just give an assignment to me to make a journal. This is my journal about a first day until the fourt day I learned grammar and pro nouns in English. I want to apologise to reader if I have do the wrong language.

      A good thing come from Allah, a bad thing come from me

Grammar not tough as you think

       Grammar is one way for us and other people to communicate each other.Without grammar,people we want to talk difficult to understand what we tried to tell them.This means grammar was so important for all people to learn because it related with our daily life.Maybe without correct grammar,we might die because nobody understands us,not because they do not want to help us.

       When I was a kid,around seven years old,I was so happy and enjoyed when the English class started.But I feel uncomfortable with english when I entered in primary school,I think this subject was so tough.I can't focus anything because too scared with this subject.After SPM,I tried to improved my english in many ways like watching malay and english movies in english subtitle.Other than that,I often try to catch up the way the actor spoke in english movies without using any subtitle because it helps me a little bit how to communicate with other people.Furthermore,I always sang an english song with lyrics to fluent my conversation with people in my daily life and gained a liitle bit my knowledge.

       When I entered KPTM Ipoh,when its my first time met Puan Hamizah,I felt a bit awkward because her spoke in english almost all on her speech.But after her third class,I felt more comfortable than before.Her skill to communicate with us with english was very interesting.I liked when she asked us to change our perception about english and when we want to gain our knowledge,make sure we have a feeling to know about it.Next day,when I tried to do what she asked for us to do,it was really effective.I was very happy.It makes me felt so fun in learning English and want to pass with flying colours on this subject.

         I also feel want to know more about English because it can easier my life to communicate with all people around world because they mostly used english language to communicate each other.Lastly,I would like to thanks to Puan Hamizah because willing to teach me about English with more effective and deeper about it.I wish that I can be fluent in talking in english and talk with confidence with correct grammar.In conclusion,English was so fun and enjoyful if we don't list it one of our heavy subject.Thank you.

Oh My Grammar!

Day 1 in English class.

     Grammar are very important and helpful in meeting the writing process goals of ensuring the clear communication of ideas. In my first English class, we were learning about grammar with our new English lecturer, Madam Hamizah Osman. Before we start our lesson, she listed a very important English skills such as listening, writing, speaking and reading. All of these skills are very important to learn English. Then, we had an ice breaking. We mutually recognize each other. Besides, she’d gave us motivation words, “We must know how to work our brain.”  That’s all for our first English class at Kolej Poly-Tech Mara Ipoh.    

Day 2 in English class.

      On the next class, Madam Hazimah teach us about “Part of Speech.” The first part of speech that we learned are Nouns. Even though I’ve studied this topic, but I still do not quite understand what is nouns actually. There are five types of nouns, common nouns, proper nouns, abstract nouns, collective nouns, compound nouns. For example of collective nouns, this type of nouns is referring to groups of things there are regarded as one such as “ a team of athletes”. With Madam Hamizah assistance, the whole class easily understand the basics of grammar. While she was teaching a little faster, but the explanation was obvious. Then, we learned more about common nouns. There are two types of common nouns, countable nouns (can be counted) and uncountable nouns, as well as we taught by Madam Hamizah.

Day 3 in English class.

      We still learning about part of speech, but this time the topic was pronouns.A pronoun usually stands alone and does not follow with a noun. There are seven types of pronouns such as, Personal Pronouns (subject and object), Possessive Pronouns (including possessive adjective), Reflexive Pronouns, Relative Pronouns, Demonstrative Pronouns, Indefinite Pronouns, Interrogative Pronouns. For the first time, I studied this types of pronouns. I don’t even know each of those types. Then, Madam Hazimah explained one by one until we all understand and know how tu used pronouns in building sentences. There are many explanations about this topic that we got by Madam Hazimah but I could not afford to list them all. That’s all that we have learned for day 2 in English class.

Day 4 in English class.

      In the last day class before the raya holidays begin, we still kept focus on our lesson. Madam Hamizah teach us about Subject-Verb Agreement and  Articles and Determiners. What I’ve learned about Subject-Verb Agreement is a subject (noun or pronoun) and a verb in a sentence must always agree with one another. This means if the subject is singular, the verb must be singular, and if the subject is plural, the verb must also be plural. For example, “She is absent today”. The lesson help me a lot to improved my grammar, but I’m still learning to reinforce my grammar. Madam Hamizah has helped me and my friends in improving our grammar and gives a motivation word to us. I hope that Madam Hamizah can teach us until we able to passed English examination with flying colours.

Grammar is easy as 1, 2, 3!

(Starting from 29th June 2015)

Day 1.

“Again? Grammar? “, I was sigh all along. That what I’ve been thinking when we met our new English lecturer, Puan Hamizah Osman. She’s our English lecturer from now on. “We must know how work our brain, train them”, that’s the phrase that have been struck in my mind. I thought maybe there's a hint behind it. Well, Puan Hamizah is kind of serious in her business but sometimes in her seriousness, there’s a great advices and guidelines.

Day 2.

What we did in Day 1 was ice-breaking. Now, move onto Day 2. We’d start our class as usual, then Puan Hamizah would start asking everyone how was their level of grammar. Few says they’re good, but mostly those who rose up their hands are below satisfying. Then the real lesson commencing. “I like to eat”, that’s the sentence that she wrote on the whiteboard. Then she’d break the sentence and said “Part of Speech”, explaining the word one by one. “I” is noun, “like” is adjective, “to” is adverb and “eat” is verb. The way that she taught us, is very different than our school teachers. Which is I found very exciting. Her impressions and body language really got me into learning process. Even though I’m a bit good at English, but she makes it even more easier as 1,2,3. After an intense two hours of learning, the class ends.

Day 3.

The class starts at 10.30 and I’m eager to learn more. This time we learn about pronouns. Pronouns are the words to replace nouns. They’re seven types of pronouns. Personal nouns, possessive nouns, reflective nouns, relative nouns, demonstrative nouns, indefinite nouns and interrogative nouns. For example, possessive nouns is like “mine, yours, theirs” often used to replace “belong to me”. Next, verb. Action and non-action. Verb is mostly known because we used them every single day. Because of that, everyone in the class are pretty good at it. The most interesting to me when we are learning about “subject verb agreement”, because everyone in the class had the chance to write on the whiteboard. Some sentence is funny though, but after Puan explained it to us, it’s really useful. To me, this is really getting me at some point, thinking that grammar is the law of English and if you follow it, it’ll be easy for you.

Day 4.

Today’s class lesson is pretty light because we are all in the mood of Raya, which is coming in few days. So, she had us recalls all the lesson that has been taught. Everyone answered the questions correctly because we know how to work our “brain”. I was happy at that moment because as the class representative, I saw the progress of everyone in grammar. I was grateful because we met a very dedicated educator at Kolej Poly-Tech Mara. I'm looking forward for the coming days in English class with Puan Hamizah.
